Runaway Aircraft hits Building at Airport

A small unmanned plane was destroyed after rolling down a runway and crashing into a building at Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Florida. The Cessna 152's wings tore off when the plane collided with cement columns on the Bistow Air Center building shortly before 8:30 A.M. Don Poppino, pilot, told authorities his plane got away after he started it with a crank. The pilot suffered scrapes and refused medical treatment.

American Airlines to Start Collecting Full Name, Gender and Date of Birth Information from Passengers

On September 15, 2009 people that want to fly on American Airlines now have to provide your full name as it appears on your driver's license or other government ID, gender and date of birth to be a passenger on that airline. If you buy tickets online, phone or at ticket desk it is still effective. This program is called the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) program.

Robert Ball named Florida's Aviation Professional of the Year

The Florida Department of Transportation (FODT) has named Lee County Port Authority (LCPA) Executive Director Robert Ball as the 2009 Aviation Professional of the Year.
